Why Do I Have Slow Metabolism After Delivery

What are main reasons for slow metabolism after delivery? This question often bothers those who have just given birth to a new baby. It is quite common to see mothers rushing out and calling up exercise and weight control firms asking for ways and means to put back the body in shape after the delivery. Many mothers are jittery about losing their beauty and attraction once they give birth to a baby. They think that the whole process of delivering a baby involves putting on excess weight from which it is difficult to come back. This is just an opinion and not based on facts. The fact of the matter is that a woman can come back to her original shape and attraction just by following some common tips that are simple to follow though not exactly very easy.

It is a known fact that pregnancy and delivery is a complicated process. During this process it is quite normal to see a lot of changes in the hormonal levels. The main function of these hormones is to help the whole process of pregnancy to go smoothly. Hence it is quite common to see a surge in hormone levels during pregnancy. It is also quite common to see pregnant mother always being in a state of hunger during pregnancy. This is essentially because of the increased levels of certain hormones which increase appetite. This is quite natural because the pregnant mother has also to take care of the unborn child and see that it gets the right share of food and nutrients.

However, once the pregnancy is over it is quite natural that the hormone levels fall down and that could be the reason why there is slow metabolism after delivery. Many women experience different types of problems once they are through with the process of delivery. Many women go into a state of depression because of hormonal imbalances and this triggers a chain of reaction which eventually affects the metabolism process and at times causes slow metabolism after delivery.

There could be quite a few reasons behind slow metabolism after delivery after delivery and it could vary from person to person. Hence, it would be better to check out with the doctor if you find a woman putting in extra weight after delivery. Further, there are some woman who do not breast feed their child after delivery thinking that it contributes to lower metabolism, while in fact it is exactly opposite. Breast feeding in fact helps the metabolism process.

However, eating fat burning foods makes all the difference between staying overweight or losing those extra pounds. If you eat four meals every day, but each day you eat different food and you get exercise plan which anyone can do, you can look the way you really want to. The best part, your metabolism does not even know you are on diet, and you still lose weight. People, who are skeptic, can even get a free metabolism booster guide and see how it works for them.

Green Tea and How to Burn Body Fat

Green tea has been used for medicinal purposes in both China and Japan for at least 4000 years. It’s an easy to prepare and delicious drink that has perhaps had more positive health attributes associated with it than any other herb. Not least of these claims is that this tea is excellent for those trying to lose weight, but is this true?

With obesity on the rise, more and more people are asking how to burn body fat. This type of tea is purported to be an easy weight loss aid, especially when combined with a healthy weight loss diet. Numerous studies have shown that if you were to drink between 3 and 5 cups of green tea each day you’ll use around an extra 70 calories per day. This is not a huge number but it is important for two reasons.

Firstly, by switching to green tea you have stopped (or at least you should have stopped) drinking other things like sugary carbonated drinks, lattes and even fruit juices. By doing this you’ll have instantly cut out all the extra calories contained in these drinks before we even consider the fat fighting ability of green tea itself. Secondly, 70 calories each day comes to about 25,000 per year! Since one pound of body fat is equal to around 3500 calories then you’ll be losing 7 lbs per year just by switching your drink. Another weight loss bonus of green tea is that it contains caffeine which will temporarily raise your metabolism causing your body to burn more calories through the internal energy process called thermogenesis, this happens even when you are at rest.

In addition to its ability to burn body fat, there are other beneficial attributes linked to green tea. Research suggests that by drinking green tea regularly and often, you will reduce your risks of developing some cancers and cardiovascular disease.

What is it in green tea that brings these health benefits? As we digest food, the stomach eventually turns it into something called triglyceride. When there is too much of this substance in the blood it gets turned into fat. Triglyceride is broken down by a particular enzyme and when you drink green tea, production of this enzyme in increased and triglyceride removed more rapidly. This amazing tea is therefore hindering the absorption of fat in the body and also regulating the rise in blood sugar. Keeping a check on blood sugar levels is important because highs and lows in the blood sugar level can cause us to crave food, particularly sweet, fat gaining foods. Also, when you drink this tea, a type of flavonoid called catechins is produced and it is believed that this chemical plays a significant role in reducing the risks of developing certain types of cancer and Alzheimer’s disease.

One often cited benefit of this amazing drink is that it’s full of polyphenols a strong type of anti-oxidant. In fact, it’s believed that this is what gives green tea its bitter flavour. If a molecule has one or more pairs of free electrons then it is referred to as a free radical. These sorts of molecules can harm body tissue by adversely interacting with it. Anti-oxidants work by ridding the body of these free radicals, a process which is thought to lessen the risk of getting cancer and heart disease.

These are some of the major health benefits associated with green tea. There are many more and if you haven’t included it in your diet perhaps now is the time to start.

Nothing in this article should be construed as instruction or advice and before beginning any diet or exercise appropriate medical advice should be obtained.

The Problems With Diabetes And Hair Loss

The connection between diabetes and hair loss was established long ago.

Diabetes is a hormone related disorder that often leads to hair loss or thinning of the hair.
Frequent loss of hair is often considered one of the early symptoms of diabetes, which requires prompt treatment in order to avoid further complications. The growth of hair is affected by diabetes, which gradually leads to thinning of hair.

Stress is directly related to diabetes and hair loss, as the disease causes excessive anxiety, which in turn becomes the prime cause of hair loss.

Diabetes and Hair Loss causes

Diabetes occurs when it becomes difficult for the body to metabolize carbohydrates properly. Diabetics are highly sensitive to skin ailments, as their blood circulation and blood sugar levels are impaired.

Bruises and small wounds often take a relatively long time to heal; therefore, the recovery rate is comparatively slower and obstructs the re-growth of hair.

This causes visible hair reduction, as diabetics cannot maintain the normal cycle of re-growth process. Bacterial and fungal infections on the scalp because of diabetes could also result in hair loss, thereby making diabetes and hair loss inter-related.

Normally, a healthy person would lose around fifty to hundred strands of hair every day. Therefore, if hair loss increases rapidly, you could require medical assistance, since untreated diabetes can escalate hair loss further.

The process:

Diabetes often leads to diffused hair growth that could be a result of medical stress or side effects of certain prescribed medicines to diabetics. It usually depends on the individual’s body, as each person responds differently to specific medications. The stress caused by chronic diabetes reduces the growth of hair.

After a period of seven to eight months, hair follicles undergo a resting period and are gradually replaced with the growth of new hair. The replaced strands push the old hair to the surface of the scalp, and the hair falls out, this is known as telogen effluvium.

Diabetes autoimmune problem

The other cause of hair loss due to diabetes is an autoimmune problem, which leads to one or more small bald patches developing on the scalp. This ailment is called alopecia areata.

Other additional autoimmune problems like a dysfunctional thyroid gland, the skin rash vitiligo, pernicious anemia, or Type 1 diabetes, often accompanies it.

Generally, Type 2 diabetes occurs when a hormonal imbalance causes polycystic ovary syndrome. Both the conditions are related to insulin resistance, which refers to the reduced ability of cells in the body to react to insulin.

Early detection and monitoring:
Diabetes often remains undetected because the symptoms at the early stage are not considered significant.

This is a major problem because early detection could slow down its harmful effects. Some of the symptoms of diabetes could be blurred vision, frequent urination, acute hunger, increased thirst, unusual weight loss, fatigue and unnecessary irritation.

Early detection of any of these symptoms, and early treatment could help in early recovery from both diabetes as well as excessive hair loss.

Careful monitoring of blood sugar levels provides relevant information that helps maintain control, which would consequently delay the development of various long-term complications.

Some of these long-term complications of diabetes could be the damage of blood vessels and nerves, loss of functioning of the kidneys, loss of sensation, heart disease and strokes.

Hair loss normally begins at the onset of diabetes and gradually becomes worse after the disease takes charge of the body.

It is very important to get the hair loss symptom diagnosed, to know the root cause of hair fall.
You need to seek a qualified doctor’s advice, so that you can avoid further problems, and to desist from using hair lotions and conditioners, which will not help to solve the problem.

8 Proven Weight Loss Tips

There are a lot of “crash” diets out there that promise that you’ll drop a considerable amount of weight in days or a week.
I have tried a few of these, and in my experience the weight always comes back on, just as quickly since the weight loss tips given are not something that will work with your body.
One thing you don’t want to do if you are actually serious about losing weight is to follow these fad diets and their ridiculous weight loss tips.
After their ineffectiveness has been proven time and again, people will start to wise up to that particular diet, and will head off in search of a new craze.
Lets be honest, people are always searching for new weight loss tips because they want to lose pounds and they want immediate results, but this is just wishful thinking.
To lose weight permanently and effectively it will be a rather slow progress, all depending on your metabolic rate and how much you need to lose.
There are however some proven tried and true weight loss tips for aiding in the weight loss process, and I can make you familiar with them.

Weight Loss Tip 1
Don’t skip breakfast.  Whatever you do follow this advice, because otherwise you are much more likely in fact prone to binge later in the day.

Weight Loss Tip 2
Don’t eat anything for at least an hour before going to bed.

Weight Loss Tip 3
Don’t snack while watching TV.  It’s acceptable to eat a meal while watching television, but never is snacking at this time acceptable.

Weight Loss Tip 4
Substitute fruits like; bananas, watermelon, plums, peaches, and oranges for sugary treats like; cookies and candy.

Weight Loss Tip 5
Substitute honey for sugar, and carob powder for chocolate in all recipes.  These taste just as good if not better when used properly.

Weight Loss Tip 6
Eat more vegetables.  This can even be enjoyable if you have a
good cookbook like Good housekeeping’s latest edition.

Weight Loss Tip 7
Avoid unnecessary high calorie foods.  Instead of a high calorie salad dressing for instance try cottage cheese or yogurt to improve the salads taste and peel of the pounds.

Weight Loss Tip 8
Exercise at least a half hour each day for five days out of the week.  Biking on a stationery bike while reading is a great form of exercise to slim legs.

What Are the Seven Main Causes of Erectile Dysfunction?

Men can fail to have erections for truly benign reasons at any age, but if it happens more than half the time when you’re trying to have one, you may have one or more risk factors for erectile dysfunction, and may in fact be suffering from it. Although this may be embarrassing and even humiliating, erectile dysfunction can signify far more serious problems, such as heart disease, diabetes, or high blood pressure, among other things.

Following are seven major causes of erectile dysfunction and what you should do about them.

Diabetes
In order to have a healthy erection, blood vessels, nerves, a healthy libido, and proper amounts of male hormones are also necessary.

Diabetes can interfere specifically with the nerves or blood vessels that help an erection happen. So even if you have normal sexual desire and healthy hormone levels, if you have diabetes, you may still not experience a proper erection.

Drug interactions
Drugs, whether prescribed or illegal, can interfere with proper erectile function. It may surprise you to know that if you abuse drugs meant to help with erectile dysfunction, like Viagra, you can actually cause erectile difficulties.

In addition, other drugs that may contribute to erectile dysfunction are those used for diabetes, high blood pressure, or even drugs prescribed to treat seasonal allergies. Illegal drugs, too, can cause erectile difficulties, including marijuana, cocaine, and heroin.

Alcohol can also cause difficulties with having an erection; although it can make you want to have sex, as Shakespeare put it, “It provokes the desire, but takes away the performance.”

High blood pressure
If you have high blood pressure, it can cause problems with the arteries in the penis just as it can with the arteries in the other parts of your body. These arteries can fail to dilate fully, thus resulting in failure to have an erection.

Smoking, too, can cause erectile dysfunction because it increases blood pressure and damages blood vessels.

Anxiety and stress
Although not necessarily a physical cause, anxiety and stress over performance can in fact cause you to fail to have an erection. However, experts from the American Urological Association say that up to 75% of erectile dysfunction cases are physical rather than psychological in nature.

Overweight/obesity
If you are overweight or obese, you may have difficulty having sex because of lack of stamina or problems with body image. Even losing just 10% of your excess weight can greatly improve your sex life.

Atherosclerosis
Atherosclerosis, which is a disease of the blood vessels and heart, can cause erectile dysfunction. That’s because plaque can build up and harden artery walls everywhere in the body, including the arteries of the penis. This then prevents an adequate blood flow to the penis, resulting in failure to have an erection.

These are just a few factors that can contribute to erectile dysfunction. If you have any of them, though, you can take measures to correct these problems and therefore reduce the probability that you are going to have problems with erectile dysfunction.

If you are someone who highly values your sexual performance and thinks it makes you more masculine or worthy, you may find it especially embarrassing to have problems in this area. However, men’s health breakthroughs mean that you no longer have to suffer with this disorder in silence.
Media attention has made the public in general much more aware of erectile dysfunction; if you do have problems with this, make sure you talk to your partner about it and your doctor as well.

Instant Weight Loss Home Remedies - 3 Ways To Fight Back Against Old Habits

Instant weight loss home remedies can help prevent you from gaining excess weight. Most of these remedies are needed because people do not know what they are doing to themselves when they eat crap. When people get sick they go to the doctor. Only to have the doctor tell them that they need some drug.

People acknowledge that they got that way because of food and then turn to the doctor, not realizing that the solution is food. If the problem is food and a lack of nutrients why would the solution not be. The remedies to lose weight at home, were always found at home and not in a bottle from the pharmacy.

1. Scan Labels - In the past you would simply look at (if you looked at all) the fat content and calorie content. This doesn't matter so much. This time look at the ingredients menu. If it has a long paragraph of things that you don't understand, put it back on the shelf. All these things that are on the back of foods at the grocery store means that it is processed. You can also bet that somewhere in there are hidden GMO's.

Genetically modified organisms are not natural. We are ingesting them though processed foods. These GMO's weren't properly tested, and the food company didn't bother testing fully on humans before they put them on the market.

Look for things that have vastly reduced amounts of ingredients. Look for things that have less than 10 ingredients or somewhere close to that to know that you are eating real food and not some bureaucrat's science project.

Do yourself a favor. Everything that is in your pantry that has a crazy amount of ingredients, throw it out. This will help you realize what should be there and what shouldn't. Keeping your house menu in this order will help you lose weight that seems to come off almost instantly.

2. Add homemade juice to your household - Those fruits and veggies that you aren't eating that you bought but don't know what to do with, juice them.

When you juice things like fruits and veggies you get to enjoy them in a different way. The juicer will break down these things into a form that your body can absorb much faster. This gives you more nutrients out of the food that you would have just let slip away had you not. All those fruits and veggies that you don't know what you are going to do with, juice them. Cut them up and juice them. If it is something you think you won't like, add a fruit to it. You can also add ice to make it more thirst quenching, or you could add flavored tonic water for some more pizzazz to your juice.

3. Split It - You may be feeling guilty as you are about to sit down and eat a very calorie dense meal. The kind of meal that you know will either have you miserably making you way to the toilet or to the bed. Those big meals can really bog you down. Take those meals and split them in two. Take the one half and eat it slowly. Enjoy every bite, think about every bite as you chew and ingest it. Really think about this process. Let your saliva mix with it, this is the first part of the digestion process. This will make you feel full faster, so you don't over do it. It also lets you separate the mass of calories that you were going to eat at one time at two different times.

These instant weight loss home remedies prepare your home for what can seem like instant weight loss. As you go about your day with these guidelines in your household losing weight will become much easier.

Rice Diet – What You Need to Know

Overweight has always been a problem faced by many people across the world. It invariably leads to health issues such as hypertension, cardiac troubles, sleep apnea and diabetes. The only way out of this mess is to shed those extra pounds around your waist by embracing some weight loss diet plans and follow it religiously. Of which, the most popular and successful technique is the Rice diet program, formulated by Walter Kempner of Duke University. Hence it is also known as Duke University Rice Diet for weight loss. The highlighting point is about Rice diet is that, unlike other popular diets, the Rice Diet is medically supervised.

Unlike the name, Rice diet program has little relation with rice. To say simply, Rice diet program is a low-fat, low-salt diet reducing obesity and maintaining good health. It is a primarily vegetarian diet which works wonders if followed punctually for two to four weeks of dieting. It is served as 3 meals a day.

The Rice diet plan for weight loss program mainly has 2 phases:
Phase 1 – In this phase, the diet mainly comprises of fruits and grains. It is highly recommended that you undergo this phase under medical supervision. It is also recommended to continue at least for half the time you plan to do the dieting.

Phase 2 – This phase incorporates a lot more vegetables and other carbohydrate rich foods along with fruits and grains. Also you could consume fish once a week.

It is advisable to avoid dairy products, meat and fish throughout the time of Rice Diet program, until medical condition allows you to.

Salt is completely avoided in Rice Diet at Home. As per experts, while only half a gram of salt is required for the normal functioning of the human body per day, we generally consume 4-5 grams per day, which is more than 8 to 10 times the optimum amount needed daily. The excess salt in the blood can lead to swelling of body, kidney disorders, and hypertension. Hence by limiting salt you can reduce the risk of these diseases.

To conclude, rice diet program is much effective than most of the text book diets proposed by the so called expert nutritionist and dietitians. But the ultimate result depends on how effectively one has followed its recommendations.

Asbestosis is an Asbestos Related Disease and May Be Considered As an Occupational Disease Too

A benign pleural disease is an asbestos-related disease which still has something of mystery to experts, since they don’t know why some asbestos workers get one of several benign diseases of the pleura while others are not affected by the terrible consequences of Asbestos.

The pleural cavity is the space between the lungs and the chest wall, which has an small amount of pleural fluid in the normal non-diseased state. The pleura is the epithelium that lines this cavity. Asbestos fibers can reach this part of the body.

The parietal pleura, which is connected to the chest wall, is highly sensitive to pain. Meanwhile, the visceral pleura, which is connected to the lung and other visceral tissues, is not sensitive to pain.
The function of pleura and pleural fluid is to reduce friction between the lungs and the inside of the chest wall during breathing. Asbestos fibers make difficult this. A benign pleural condition usually does not progress and is not fatal. These conditions include pleural plaques, diffuse pleural fibrosis and benign pleural effusion.

Pleural effusion occurs when fluid accumulates in the pleural space and compresses the lungs.

Pleural plaques is a discrete fibrous or partially calcified thickened area which can be seen on x-rays of individuals exposed to asbestos. Benign pleural diseases appear various years after the exposure to asbestos and according to some experts cause little or no trouble, since some people do not even show symptoms. However, having a benign pleural disease may be the sign of developing asbestoses or another asbestos-related disease later.

Best Way To Get Rid of Belly Fat After Pregnancy

Everyone agrees that being pregnant is one of the most amazing and life affirming things that can happen to a woman but we all know that it’s not without its difficulties. One of the main concerns a new mother has, after those of caring for her new baby of course, is the desire to lose her pregnancy weight. After all who wouldn’t want to lose those 20 to 30 pounds put on during the average pregnancy and return to their previous, slimmer figures. No matter how strongly a new mother may feel about this it’s really important to be patient because losing weight too quickly can be as unhealthy now as at any time.

Despite this fact, the majority of weight loss tips for new mothers are the same as those for everyone else but there are a few extra factors that may help them to lose weight, you might even say nature is on their side.

So, best ways to lose belly fat after pregnancy includes the following:

Exercise. This is important for anyone trying to lose weight. Exercise works to burn fat in three ways; it tones your muscles, it increases your metabolism and it costs more energy to be more active. However, women who have recently given birth should be wary of too much exercise. Giving birth is a major physical trauma and the body must be given time to recover. If any exercise is undertaken it must be light and only as directed by your doctor.

Water. To help the liver clear toxins and break down fat it’s a good idea to drink up to 8 medium-sized glasses of water per day.

A healthy diet. Eating a balanced and healthy diet is a prerequisite for anyone trying to lose weight and is even more important for new mothers who are breastfeeding. If you make sure you are eating well you’ll feel more energized and you’ll also be giving your baby the best start in life.

Sleep. It’s been shown that sleep deprived people are more prone to putting on weight. With a new baby on the scene it’s inevitable that you’ll be losing sleep but if at all possible try to get some nap-time whenever the baby does sleep. You’ll feel much less stressed and generally healthier.

These tips are somewhat generic to all dieters but there is one piece of advice that only applies to new mothers trying to lose weight. If you breastfeed then you will be using up your body’s stores of fat and you’re likely to see the result in a slimmer waistline. In fact, the reason you gained weight during the pregnancy was so that you could give your baby the sustenance it needs. A breastfeeding mom needs about and extra 500 calories per day to provide enough milk for her baby. This added energy demand will go a long way toward helping you shed those extra pounds naturally and with very little effort.

All of these tips will work but by far the main point to remember is that a new mother must stay healthy. It’s generally advised that they shouldn’t really think about losing weight for at least the first 2 months after giving birth. Breastfeeding will help you lose weight during this period but anything else should wait. Whenever you decide you want to start to lose pregnancy weight it’s definitely a good idea to speak with your doctor and tell them your intentions. They’ll be able to guide you as to what’s most appropriate for you and your personal situation.

Nothing in this article should be construed as instruction or advice and before beginning any diet appropriate medical advice should be obtained.
